Aloha 2016, another run around the sun! New album in the making..
Off to a great onset this year for my Hawaiian music and I am ready to roll with it! A quick mahalo to all for the fabulous 2015 year of music, from the fans, family, friends, my group and fellow musicians. The Kumu Hula Masters, the local and online radio stations, Hawai'i airports and stores that play the music, hula peeps "YOU ROCK". I traveled to Oahu for numerous trips, performing on KITV NEWS local Hawai'i station, PauHana Fridays with Hawaiian Airlines, recieving two honorary Awards from Honolulu Chamber of Commerce Northern California,(HCCNC)SF Mayor Ed Lee, Martha's Vineyard First Ukulele Festival in Boston. I am just amazed at how different cities and countries around the globe love the ukulele and share a unique nature to our music, language and history of the islands. Met some humble and kind people along my journeys for 2015 and am thankful for their graced hearts.
As for my present position in music, did I mention I have started recording my fourth album? Oh yes I am and thrilled with an upbeat attitude! My fourth cd project will be recorded in Honolulu with the incomparable Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winning Producer, Mr. Dave Tucciarone. A long time New York native, with superb ears for the right sound, a very skilled expert amongst well known musicians in Hawai'i and abroad, such an enjoyable and funny stud to work with. I hope he says the same about me, or maybe not haha? I am taking my time on this project, so as to have various and distinctive meles to share with the fans. Also I will have some featured artists on this project to perform with me so stay tuned y'all!
While my busy year has started already with San Francisco's deYoung Museum appearance last month, I'll be heading down to SoCal next month for a couple shows. Looking forward to some sunshine down south.
Heading back to Boston in late March for a Ukulele Fun Time Workshop with K-3 graders, love the little keikis. For the month of April, Steven Espaniola and I head to Reno's Ukulele Festival. Please check my updated calendar for a performance near you. House Concerts for any of you who might be interested, please email me. I've done a few of these intimate shows in the last couple years for business companies, work related events, family functions, and people love it! Unplugged, raw hawaiian music in your living room, nothing more personal and relaxing than that feeling on a weekday or weekend evening.
Mahalo for stopping by, see you soon and keep aloha alive ~a hui hou, Faith Thompson Ako
